Meinklang Orange Wines

Meinklang Orange Wines

Those of you who have been to the shop know we love Meinklang Farm and their vast variety of wines. These two are still, skin-contact whites.

'Graupert' is 100% Pinot Gris, macerated on its skins. Graupert means "wild" or "unruly," which is an apt description of their Pinot Gris vines, which they do not trim back or otherwise interfere with in any way. Native flowers and insects are allowed to grow and alongside the vines, keeping the ecosystem in harmony. This is a lush, dark salmon colored wine with honeyed apricots on the nose and a lush but dry palate.

'H17' is made from a Hungarian grape varietal, Harslevelü  given 2 days of skin contact. It is fermented with wild yeasts, not fined nor filtered, and nothing is added (not even sulfites). Meinklang's farm straddles the Austro-Hungarian border, and this fruit comes from the Hungarian side. It's lighter in body and more citrus driven than 'Graupert.'
