Macedon Pinot Noir

Macedon Pinot Noir

notes from The Raleigh Wine Shop:

Named after Alexander the Great himself, the Macedon wines are an exceptional representation of adaptation from Old World to New. By using non-native grapes, like this stunning Pinot Noir, from established growing regions like Macedonia, winemaker Dane Jovanos has crafted wines that are as crowd-pleasing and easy-drinking as they are intriguing and a window into the birthplace of wine.

The Macedon Pinot Noir is grown from over 40-year-old vines in Gradsko, Macedonia just north of the Greek border, and a region that shares the same latitude with Burgundy and the Russian River Valley in California – two powerhouses when it comes to mastering this delicate grape. The palate is smooth and silky, filled with black cherry and juicy red berries. It is aged completely in stainless steel, so that smoky note that you get on the nose and palate is all from the terroir of these ancient soils.
